We combined the advantages of the artificial SEI layer of the electrode and the electrolyte additives to successfully prepare the high-performance Zn-ZONA-AS zinc anode. First, a layer of (002) oriented ZnO nanoarray (ZONA) was grown on the surface of the zinc electrode by a simple salt solution treatment, which was used to induce confined uniform nucleation in the early stage of electrodeposition. At the same time, the anionic surfactant (AS) in the electrolyte can promote the densification growth of the electrodeposited zinc on the basis of uniform crystal nuclei. The ZONA layer grown on the electrode surface has high uniformity as a whole, with a thickness of about 800 nm. The Zn-ZONA-AS electrode can be stably cycled for 2100 h under the harsh test conditions of 10 mA cm-2 and 10 mAh cm-2. The step-by-step deposition strategy of uniform nucleation and dense growth proposed by us provides a new reference for the design of high-capacity dendrite-free zinc anode.
