Our group utilized the permanent nanovoids of ceramic substrates to confine molecule-layer thick rubbery polymer membranes (<10 nm) through an interfacial crosslinking reaction. Using a single-pass membrane separation process, we concentrated 1.0 wt.% aqueous n-butanol 14.2-fold, achieving a record-breaking liquid flux of 110 kg m⁻² h⁻¹ — two orders of magnitude higher than those of previously reported membranes.
